Nuns Don't Dance by Norma L. Bronoski

Back in the 1960s, Germany was undergoing tremendous social change. Munich, a city in south central Germany, was a beautiful place that attracted tourists with its blend of elegance and old-world charm.

Nuns Don’t Dance: A Love Story: Love of God, a Country & a Man follows the life of a young American woman, Louise, who is sent to pre-Wall Germany in 1960 by her Wisconsin convent to learn the German language. Upon her return to the United States, she will take her final vows and teach German in the convent’s high school.

The young postulant meets a bevy of interesting personalities during her one-year stay abroad and her adventures with them form the plot of the story. Though she initially feels out of place in the foreign environment and her experiences throughout the year bring her intense inner conflict, Louise gradually adjusts to the merry lifestyle of Munich.

Ultimately, she begins to accept the unexpected circumstances that have become her fate.

Nuns Don’t Dance: A Love Story: Love of God, a Country & a Man gives readers a glimpse of one woman’s extraordinary foray into a new life and all its trappings. Each page is a memento of the gay and lively city of Munich and a refreshing remembrance of the bliss that only love can bring.
