Elbow Room by W. Avery Hancock

When Antoinette “Toni” Kelly and Sheila Hawkins met, animosity grew between them even if they both had a mixed heritage.  Their circumstances couldn’t be more different.  Toni was abandoned by her mother and raised by her grandmother, Rose.  Sheila lost her mother when she was three and alternated her time between her grandmother and a father that adored her.  Eventually, the two became good friends and part of each other’s family.  Sheila becomes the catalyst for Toni to slowly open up to others while Toni supports Sheila when she finds out she is pregnant after an affair with a married man.  Then time comes when the two best friends have to part.  How will Toni fare without Sheila’s support?  Can she achieve her dream of making it big in film?

Set in Maryland, Elbow Room: The Series follows a colorful cast of characters who connect through TABLES, a successful restaurant owned by Rose.  It is here where Toni and Sheila first meet, and bond.  After years of running her successful business, Rose decides to let it go, allowing Toni the opportunity to pursue her dream in Hollywood.  Interwoven into this tale are interesting subplots, which involves Sheila’s father who was involved in some bad schemes, and life for the workers of TABLES after the diner is sold.  Engaging with a dash of suspense, readers will enjoy this wonderful story and want more…
